Hiking is one of the most difficult and tiring exercises that a person can do. Maintaining your energy level throughout a hike can be a daunting task. One way to maintain your energy level throughout a hike is by bringing nutritional food with you. The best hiking foods are ones that are convenient, nutritional, and will quickly give you a boost of energy when your blood sugar is low during your hike. Bringing water as well as certain types of sports drinks will also help you maintain your energy level throughout a hike.

One of the most nutritional and energy packed foods you can bring with you on a hike is a Power Bar. Power Bars are great because they have a lot of carbohydrates and proteins with almost no fat. Carbohydrates are one of the best things you can eat to maintain your energy level because they break down slowly and steadily. The other great thing about bringing a power bar with you is that it’s extremely convenient. They are extremely small and they come in wrappers which make them easy to open and store. Another nice thing about using a power bar for a snack is that they are relatively inexpensive at only a dollar each.

Bringing water and staying hydrated is also important to maintaining your energy level throughout a hike. If you want to go on your hike being extra prepared then you can also bring sports drinks. The two best sports drinks that you can bring on your hike with you are Powerade and Gatorade. These drinks have electrolytes in them which help replace electrolytes in your body that are used up during your hike. You should only consume these sports drinks sparingly because drinking too many of them will result in too much blood rushing to your stomach to digest them. Here is a brief list of the food items you should bring with you on a hike:

- A Powerbar or Energy Bar
- Several Bottles of Water for Hydration
- Powerade
- Gatorade

If you bring these supplies with you there will be no problem maintain your energy level throughout the entire hike. These food items are great because they are extremely convenient, cheap, and even nutritious. If you want to bring some small fruits in addition to these foods that is not a bad idea. Some fruits you might consider bringing are apples, oranges, or even pears. Either way, all of these foods will help you get through a long and difficult hike!
