We are traveling in June.
We are starting in London and returning there 21 days later, beyond that I am looking for ideas of where to go and to keep the trip cheap.
Thanks

Backpacking in Europe is by no means cheap due to the high exchange rate of the Euro. Also, hotels/ hostels in EU are pricey as compared to other parts of the world. If you plan well and strictly follow your intinerary, you’ll be able to save a lot of money on travel and accommodation.
Europe has several budget carriers and hence, air travel can often be cheaper than rail. Check http://www.whichbudget.com for cheap airline deals from one destination to another. Budget carriers offer very low fares for advance booking but no refunds or cancellations or rebookings if you dont travel on that flight.
From London you can enter France by coach or train. Check http://www.eurostar.com and http://www.thalys.com for railway fares. Also http://www.eurolines.com for coach fares. From France you can travel to Belgium: http://www.b-rail.be and Netherlands http://www.ns.nl ( for rail fares)
Netherlands is well connected to Germany with several trains daily to some major German cities. And Germany in turn, is well connected by rail and budget airlines to countries such as Austria, Italy, Switzerland, among others.
Alternatively, you can do my favorite circuit- Iceland and Scandinavia. The suggested route is: London- Oslo- http://www.norwegian.no – Reykjavic-Oslo- http://www.icelandair.com – Copenhagen- Malmo- Stockholm-http://www.dsb.dk – Helsinki- http://www.aferry.to – Rovaniemi ( on the Arctic Circle) – http://www.vr.fi or http://www.blue1.com – and return to London.
