You need to do a great deal of this work yourself first. Choose where you want to go based on your interests and your budget- no one here will know those things. Then surf the web looking for sites that address backpacking travel concerns and specifics. If you need to ask people here how to pay for things then you aren’t ready to go anywhere. Once you have decided where you want to go, then come back with specific questions.
I think you have some homework to do, (should have done it before asking this question even.)
Make a short list of what is Europe for you. Write down the countries and/or towns you have always thought of first when you heard the word Europe.
Look those places up on a map, the Google map is very useful for this, as you can enter the places into the searchbar and Google with find them for you.
If they are within one country you have your answer, that is where you want to go.
But most likely they are rather far apart and you will need to make a plan to combine them into one trip.
And look up a couple of pages for each town or country and see what is there to do and see.
Think about going to cities as well as villages, not just the capital cities of Europe as much of European life happens in the smaller towns.
If you have no idea about what you want to see or do, look for one of the package trips, that do all highlights of Europe.
Or read in the older questions here, as this is a question that comes around rather often.
What to bring, as little as possible.
June / July is summer, depending on which part of Europe you go that will mean jeans, T-shirt and sweater, with a light rain jacket, or T-shirt and shorts.
In any case, bring clothing for just one week and do laundry. No way you can bring enough for 6 weeks and still be able to travel, you will find that you will travel so much easier with just a small bag or case and safe more time than laundry does cost.
If you are young and healthy, a backpack is the most obvious choice, but if you doubt about bringing a back pack, a small rolling case is also practical.
Once you have worked out these things, look into hostels, ATMs and package trips and see if you have questions left.
Europe is too big for a month or so, so you have to delimiter your area.
