How much would backpacking through Europe cost?Tips?

I need to know how much i should save up for 3 weeks to a month.
I hope to go to London, Paris, Madrid and Rome for sure and if there are any suggestions plz tell!
For hostel accommodation allow approx €20 per night.
For food, 3 meals a day you could get by on €20 a day buying some food in supermarkets and eating in cheap places, but a more realistic figure would be €30 + per day.
Train transport is expensive in Europe, but maybe you could get a Eurorail pass online…otherwise if you book enough in advance there are cheap flights within Europe on …www.ryanair.com
Excluding transport within Europe, you would need a minimum of €1500, and that would still be very basic.
Europe is a lot more expensive than the US.
