hi, i am going to go backpacking for a distance of 80+miles in the pacific northwest and i wanted to know if any one had any tips or ideas to give thanks you

Think about what you will do if you come across a hungry bear or mountain lions.
Well as far as the basic 10 essentials that you should always have in your backpack I`d say put everything in plastic since it can rain a whole lot up there. Get yourself some really good waterproof boots and break them in before your hike. Bring Duct tape since it has endless uses, I have the bottom of my Nalgene wrapped in it to hold it, others wrap a pencil.
I`d also brush up on bear bag hanging skills. Depending on the bear population you may want to carry bear spray.
